A Summer of Visitors
At Cannon Beach, I like to swim in my grandmother’s pool, play my violin in town, or shop. We were here for two weeks this time, and we had some friends over for a while. One family were friends I’ve known my whole life who have two girls and a baby brother. The next family were more long-time family friends who have a son named Issac and two other daughters. The third set of friends were visiting us for the longest time – Lani and Biffy. We did a lot of fun stuff while they were there.
Boogie Boarding at Indian Beach
The first big thing we did was went to Indian Beach at Ecola State Park to go boogie boarding and play in the sand. I did not go boogie boarding, but I did go to the “hidden falls.” It is a waterfall that only we and probably a few other people know about. After we came back from hidden falls, my mom said that it was time to go, so everything was packed and we left to go back home.
More Friends and Beach Adventures
I have two friends at Cannon Beach, their names are Carter and Jackson. They are really fun to play with. The next day a friend from Raleigh came. Her name is Imani. She is seven years old, and she also stayed the rest of the trip. After all of the other families left, we only have Lani, Biffy and Imani visiting. We went on a hike to Crescent Beach. Us kids built a tent out of logs and decided to stay there and make a fire while our parents continued on their beach hike and let us have some freedom as kids to be creative and learn independence, responsibility and self-reliance. All by ourselves without any help from our parents we: made a fire, built a drying rack, and made a stove out of a rock. We stayed there for three hours having the time of our lives and enjoying cooking some bits of food that we brought which included an Apple. When we finally decided to go back, we were pretty worn out.
Getting Ready to Leave for the Next Trip
On the last day of our stay my mom said that if all of us helped with cleaning out the RV, she would give us each $20 for our hours of work, after which we would go to nearby town of Seaside and get to play bumper cars and the arcade. I had a really fun time with my friends, and I hope we get to do it again.
Next trip, Africa!
