We took a visit to the San Juan Islands and stayed at my moms friends house,, which is were she grew up visiting. We actually stayed in the guest house, but that was also super cool. I had all the traditional 1990s things, and I slept in the loft, which turned out to be a great place.
The “first” day we were there was not really a full day, because we arrived from a a two hour car ride at like 5:00 PM, so we were all tuckered out. We had a little food and then went right to bed.
Day two we went on a hike up mount Finlayson in the morning, which was so pretty. Everything was covered in the morning dew, so it was extra beautiful. At the start of the hike I got some super cool photos of some dew drops and of a Camas flower.
The forest that we were walking through was so pretty, and there were little signs that talked about the flowers and trees there. They were trying to preserve the Camas flowers, because it was a native flower. The Native Americans used its roots for food, but all of the pine trees were taking over.
Near the top there was a clear plane, and a great view of the Mountians and with the water.
A little farther up, we found a bald eagle sitting on the to the top of a tree, but I could not get a very good photo of it because it was so high up. Anyway, we came back down to the car and I looked at all of the photos I had taken.
Later that day we went on a walk down to the bay, which was called False Bay. It was called that because boats would sail in thinking that it was a nice bay to stay out of the rough waters in, but then the tide would go out and the boats would be stuck. After walking around for about 30 min, me Emmy and KB headed back to the house while the parents kept walking.
We were only staying for two days, so the next day we packed up and went down top the ferry to go back to the mainland. The San Juan Islands were super fun and I would defiantly recommend going to.
